Hi, this is Doug Rehnstrom. Let’s talk about what you will learn in this course.
This course is designed to help prepare you for the GCP Associate Cloud Engineer certification exam.
We will cover some of the core principles of GCP, like how the APIs and services work and how you authenticate requests using IAM members and roles.
An important part of working with the cloud is automating as much as possible. There are different ways to automate the creation of resources on GCP, including using the CLI, using various language SDKs, and creating Deployment Manager templates. We will cover how to use these different tools.
You will learn about creating VPC networks and virtual machines on GCP.
We will enumerate the various services that can be used to save data on GCP and you will learn how and when to use these different storage services.
There are a number of different choices when deploying your applications to GCP. We will cover the most common ways. This includes using Google Kubernetes Engine.
We will also talk about deploying applications using App Engine, Google’s Platform as a Service product. And you will learn to deploy serverless applications using Cloud Functions.
Finally, we will cover how you can monitor, analyze, and debug your cloud resources using Stackdriver.
The Associate Cloud Engineer exam tests you on your experience using Google Cloud Platform. It tries to determine that you’ve actually deployed infrastructure on Google Cloud and have created services that run on the cloud.
Some of the exam content can be gained by attending training courses and reading the documentation. But primarily, the questions try to determine if you’ve really done work on GCP.
To prepare for the exam, you need to get some hands-on experience. This course includes labs and assignments to help you get started doing hands-on work.
